About the Races

Bridal Veil 30k

The Bridal Veil 30k is a scenic and tough loop through the high country of Telluride, Colorado. Runners will leave Telluride heading East towards Bridal Veil Falls. Ascending a rough double track runners will pass by the iconic Smuggler-Union Hydroelectric Plant and ascend into upper Bridal Veil Basin. Vast alpine meadows await runners as they move to the high point of the course on Wasatch Junction at 13,000ft. Looking into Upper Bear Creek runners will descend dreamy singletrack and making their way to Wasatch Connector trail for their final ascent to the top of Telluride Ski Resort. Runners will finish descending Telluride Ski Resort back into town. This race is a high alpine mountain race, with varied terrain, come prepared!

Bear Creek 10 Mile

The Bear Creek 10 Mile race is a stunning loop through the high country of Telluride, Colorado. Racers will ascend the deep canyon of Bear Creek, gaining elevation until treeline where they will ascend to the top of the Telluride Ski Resort. Massive views await runners with 360-degree sights deep into the San Juan Mountains. Runners will then descend along double track and singletrack through the ski resort finishing back in the town of Telluride. This 10 mile race showcases the best of Telluride!

Both races will occur on July 20th 2024.

Bridal Veil 30k start time: 6:30 AM

Bear Creek 10 Mile start time: 7:00 AM

Race bib pickup and check-in information will be sent out via email.

A pre-race briefing will occur 10 minutes before each race start.

Important Disclaimer

This is a high altitude mountain trail race! While there are sections of the course that run along buffed-out fire-roads and paths, the majority of the course is on technical alpine single-track. This race is not recommended for beginners.

Aid Stations & Cutoff Times

Box Canyon 30K:

Bridal Veil Aid Station (Aid #1) ~4.6 miles in, cutoff time* 8:45 am/2hrs 15 mins. NOTE- There are two significant climbs after this aid station, so be sure to stock up on water and snacks at this aid as the toughest section of the course is just before Gold Hill Aid.

Gold Hill Aid Station (Aid #2) ~14.2 miles in, cutoff time* 1:15 pm/6hrs 45 mins.

Finish cutoff time* 3:00 pm/8hrs 30 mins

Bear Creek 10M:

Gold Hill Aid Station (Only Aid Station) ~5.6 miles in, cutoff time* 10:30 am/3hrs 30 mins.

Finish cutoff time* 3:00 pm/8hrs

*We may be forced to adjust cutoff times based on inclement weather to ensure runner safety.

Aid Station Food/Drink descriptions:

We will stock all our aid stations with standard aid station supplies (think fruit, sweet snacks, salty snacks, coke, ginger ale, etc.), as well as water and tailwind, think fruit, sweet snacks, salty snacks, coke, ginger ale, etc. We will also have some sort of simple hot food (think potatoes or broth) at each aid as well. If you have any specific gels you like, we recommend you pack them yourself.

Drop Bags: No drops bags are available for this race.

Safety Plan

Overview: Confluence Events prioritizes participant safety during the Box Canyon Trail Races. All participants will be given a brief safety rundown prior to racing. Aid stations and race directors utilize radio communication to track racers in and out of aid stations, and stand ready to provide any medical assistance. Local EMS will be on-call during our race. Ultra-trail running has inherent risks and Confluence Events seeks to mitigate any unnecessary risk during the event.

Time Limits: The cutoff times will be listed above at a later date. We may be forced to adjust cutoff times based on inclement weather to ensure runner safety

Aid Station Medical: We will do our best to have a volunteer trained in First Aid at each aid station, which will be supplied with a first aid kit. For more serious issues, a search and rescue call will be triggered.

Recommended Gear: Hydration and sun protection gear. Warm layers and the ability to be self sufficient on the alpine trails is mandatory.

Parking Information

There is free all day parking in the parking lot called Carhenge (maps link), and free 4-hour parking in the Telluride Town Park (maps link).

Both of these locations are roughly a 10 minute walk from the start/finish
